Program at end.
University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) will be hosting an Organic Agriculture Workshop at the UCCE Sutter-Yuba Office in Yuba City on November 7th, 2023. The event will include presentations on a range of topics relevant to organic growers in the region. Registration will begin at 8:30am followed by the program at 9am.
This event brings together UC Cooperative Extension experts on a variety of topics including weed and pest management, livestock integration, and organic nitrogen management. Cropping system specific talks will also be included. “This workshop will cover topics specific to organic growers in the Sacramento Valley—there will be something for everyone including annual crop and orchard growers,” says Sarah Light, Agronomy Advisor.
A couple of relevant statewide issues will also be addressed including the recently founded UC Organic Agriculture Institute. “This event will include an update on the new Sustainable Pest Management Plan, which will have major impacts for California farms,” says Whitney Brim-Deforest, Rice Advisor in the region. Joji Muramoto, statewide Cooperative Extension Organic Production Specialist at UC Santa Cruz is a co-host of this event and will be presenting on Integrated Soil Health Management for Plant Health in Organic Production. “We hope that organic growers and growers interested in organic production will attend,” says Dr. Muramoto.
DPR and CCA credit requested, and INMP approved.
The event is free and lunch is provided but registration is required. Registration and agenda can be found here: https://ucanr.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_428CIixyI1ZIwv4
