Tehama County Weekly Pest Update – May 22, 2017

May 22, 2017 – Our temperature sensors suggest codling moth degree day accumulation at 598. No evidence of the “1B” flight yet. No scale crawlers yet. They are a little late compared to previous years.

May 8, 2017As of 5/8, we have had no female codling moth or scale crawlers.

May 1,2017 As of 5/1, we have had no female codling moth or scale crawlers.

April 24,2017 – As of 4/24, we have had no female codling moth or scale crawlers.

April 172017 – As of 4/17, we have had no female codling moth or scale crawlers.

April 10, 2017 – As of 4/10, we have had no female codling moth or scale crawlers.

April 3, 2017 – We set the first biofix for codling moth at 4/3 in an Ashley walnut orchard just south of Red Bluff. The next event for codling moth will be female catch which we will use to estimate first egg hatch. The San Jose scale biofix for 3/30 came from almonds.

March 27, 2017 – The oriental fruit moth (OFM) biofix came from an almond orchard south of Red Bluff. We trapped one male. A codling moth (CM) was trapped on 3/20 in Ashley walnut. There has been little to no CM flight activity in the cool wet weather.
